1. Market: due to the low complexity and packaging (shape), this engine is likely to be attractive in different markets for a number of
different applications for power generation like:
2. Power density: compared to other existing linear engine concepts, the power density of the STG engine is likely to be higher due to active combustion on both sides instead of passive springs.
3. Packaging / complexity: This engine is specifically designed to be simple & low weight on combustion engine side, with advantages in terms of packaging. One of the USP’s of this technology is definitely the lowcomplexity. A conventional internal combustion engine is generally composed by a couple of hundred components, with a number of moving parts. The STG linear engine has currently a few dozens of components with only two moving parts.
4. Low vibration concept engine: due to the STG engine concept configuration with opposite piston movements, the system is
supposed to run completely balanced by itself. This leads to great achievements in terms of NVH.
5. Efficiency: The following technologies have been selected in order to achieve the best performance:
6. Complexity: the complexity is low, the engine can be easily adapted to multiple fuels.
7. At this stage a preliminary concept has been investigated; design & development have to be covered over the next development phases
